The Samsung ML 1510 Printer is a Sound Investment

Print Quality- The Samsung ML 1510 personal, Black and White printer is ideal for both office and home use, boasting with immaculate print quality. Text production is clear and crisp. Both small and large font sizes are easily readable with no jagged edges, smears or blemishes. Characters are solid with detail. Shading and contrasting is precise. Slight banding may be present on PDF, mixed and photo prints. However it's a more common occurrence with Greyscale and diagram prints. Prints are produced at rather average speed of 14 ppm text, 14 ppm mixed and photo printing. A maximum of 1 minute warm-up time is unfortunately required before first page print out.

Media size and type- All well-known media types and sizes are compatible with the printer including Plain, transparencies, labels, envelopes and cards as well as Letter, Legal, Folio, Exec, Monarch, C5, DL, A4, A5, B5 and 3x5". The printer boasts with a great 250 sheet paper input and 50 sheet output tray capacity. A folding paper exit is located at the back of the machine for handling inflexible paper types.

Controls- If you are new to computers and printers or a little technologically challenged the printer is designed especially for you. The machine only has one button for operating the machines' power supply and 2 LED screens showing errors and toner status, the rest of the functions are controlled from the users' computer.

Installation- Printer installation is a dream, just pop in the disc and you are ready to print. Unfortunately, designers and technicians omitted the plug and play function on the device.

OS Compatibility- Linux, Apple Mac and Windows operating systems are all compatible with the printer, making it appealing to a broad audience. Especially Linux and Mac users will be chuffed as these systems often encounter compatibility problems.

Connection- Designers have decided to employ only the latest technology in terms of connectivity in the form of an USB connection. You better pack away those old fashioned operators as the days of port connections are long gone. Please note that USB cable is included with your purchase.

Guarantee- A 12 month guarantee is included with your printer purchase. However you should keep in mind that coverage is very limited on parts and labour.

Samsung CLP-310 Toner Review

You aren't getting extremely quick laser speeds with the Samsung CLP-310 printer, however, it does meet the buildup in providing budget friendly colour laser printing in a small form factor.

Samsung employs talented individuals who are very imaginative with CAD, pencils, rulers and the tensile strengths of plastic and metal materials to create a handful of very great looking electronic products, from tv sets to mobile phones and a whole lot more.

And then there's the CLP-310.

It is a colour laser printer that looks just like the previous mockups for anyone's colour laser printer may perhaps look like, just a bit smaller. This may appear like idle complaining, but then Samsung is the company that produced the extremely appealing ML-1630 Laser Printer. Most probably those design folks have moved on, and what we get is grey and ultimately dull.

This may appear like an odd feature to start with, yet Samsung lists the small size of the CLP-310 as a selling point, and who are we to quibble?

At 388 x 313 x 243mm it is undoubtedly on the smaller end for a colour laser, although the claim that it's small enough to be placed "comfortably on a corner of your home, office, desk or bookcase" is probably a touch optimistic. Unless of course if you have quite large bookshelves, presumably.

If there is a feature that most people look for on a laser printer, it's speed. I'm curious then, that Samsung only rates the CLP-310 at a somewhat slow 16ppm for the black prints and 4pmm for colour. It's really quite a lot more honest compared to the other vendors - particularly Inkjet vendors, which often rate the ppm count at around the rate the printer could spit out blank paper - however it is also not a vote of confidence in what exactly is intended to be among laser's major selling points.

The CLP-310 is connected through a USB 2. only - there is no network port built in, although a tab of plastic on the back points to the potential for this particular framework to accommodate one - and is a printer only. Those people who are after a multifunction device must look elsewhere.

The initial setup phase of the CLP-310 was well efficient and easy, all the way down to the straightforward installation of the toner cartridges. The CLP 310 toner cartridges are unfortunately somewhat small with the black cartridge (CLT-K4092S) only having a capacity of 1,500 pages and the three colour cartridges fairing even worse with a 1,000 page capacity. The small footprint isn't just the only small thing with this printer, however if you're moving up from an inkjet printer it isn't really an issue.

A test text document printing in draft quality took about twenty two seconds to print its initial page, however additional pages thereafter came out around every five seconds or so, giving it a real speed rating of just above 9 pages per minute. The print quality in draft mode was unexpectedly good, however at these speeds, it would have to be.

Provided with the calm mono speeds, we weren't expecting for the colour pages to fly out of the CLP-310. Samsung rates the CLP-310 at 4 pages per minute in colour; we were able to manage half of that with a fairly heavy colour coverage page, and similar with photo-style printing - however we would not strictly recommend that consumers work with a laser printer such as this for dedicated photo work.

On the noise front, the CLP-310 managed it really well. It is still a long shot from being a really silent printer, but it is somewhat silent compared to the majority of competing lasers, and its large sturdy body means it could absorb its operating noise in a much more refined fashion compared to the creaky cases that the majority of Inkjet engines get placed into.

The CLP-310 is a completely acceptable colour laser for its price, and so long as you can wait a little time for prints to come out, they're perfectly acceptable too.

Samsung Laser Printer & Samsung Printer Error Codes & How to Fix Them

There have been several models of the Samsung Laser printer released into the market. However, many of them seem to pose various degrees of problems. Here are some of the common error codes along with tips on troubleshooting:

Error message: Scanning error

This error message is essentially a hardware error. You could try to replace the USB cable. Sometimes poor quality cables cannot transmit the large data needed by a scanner.

Error message: paper jam

This happens when the paper has got stuck in your Samsung Laser printer. You need to check the sensor located beside exit rollers. Maybe it is in incorrect position, or is damaged. If nothing works, try replacing it with a new sensor.

Error message: square prints

Sometimes you may experience that your Samsung Laser printer is printing out squares instead of regular text. It can happen if you are using Firefox or printing content from sites which do not recognize the font used in the text. To fix this problem you will need to reinstall all relevant drivers. If this doesn't help then visit the printers and faxes folder, select your printer and choose the properties.

Error message: missing print

Sometimes, a portion of your page could be devoid of print. It can happen because of incorrect paper size configuration. Check the settings and try again.

Error code: H2

This error code indicates that there is a problem with the fuser warming up. Make sure all the cables are in connection and that no point is missing.

Error message: Media tray empty

Sometimes even if the tray is loaded with paper you could be getting this error message on your Samsung Laser Printer. Try updating the drivers by visiting the Samsung site. This should rectify issues.

Error: Toner light still on

After replacement of the toner cartridge you might still find the toner light switched on continually. You need to check on the fuse located on the front side of the cartridge. You could try replacing this with a 50 mp one. This error usually occurs in the Samsung SCX-4216F.

Error code: 24

This error code indicates that there is too much overload as far as the print job is concerned. You can select the button called 'continue' and then try reducing the amount of print job.

Error code: 50

This indicates a malfunction in the fuser. It means the fuser is not heating up. Try switching off your Samsung Laser Printer or resetting the printer for around 15 minutes and then switch it on again. In case this does not solve the problem, it could indicate a fault in the fuser assembly or in the AC power.

Error code: 16

This error code means that the toner is low. That means the distribution of the toner inside the cartridge is inadequate. You need to take out the cartridge and move it back and front gently. If this does not work try replacing the cartridge. You could also try cleaning up the contacts.
